At last night's football game there was a potential incident outside of the stadium. Quinton police reacted immediately and are investigating. We always consider the safety of our students, fans and visitors and want to reassure everyone that is our upmost priority.

Big things at Quinton. On Friday the Savages traveled to Webbers Falls for the first district football game of the year. The Savages defeated 5-0 Webbers Falls 38-20 to go to 1-0 in district play. The band won the 2A division of the Holdenville marching band contest on Saturday. That allowed them to compete for the overall title. They did very well and beat some much larger bands. Also, on Saturday the 5/6 Lady Savages were runner-up in the Quinton Elementary basketball tournament. Please make sure to give all of those mentioned a big shout out.

Patrons of Quinton School, We will have to shut water off tomorrow for repairs. . We will need to go Distance Learning for Thursday. Hopefully repairs can be completed tomorrow and we will be good to go for Monday. Sorry for the late notice but we did had no way to anticipate this issue. Teachers will be at school and will be able to provide Distance Learning materials and we will still have Parent/Teacher conferences as scheduled. Please remember there is NO Virtual Friday this week. Thank you for your understanding.

Patrons of Quinton Public Schools: Some of you are probably aware of the latest, popular TikTok challenge where students vandalize and/or steal school property and film themselves while doing so. Unfortunately, Quinton Schools are not immune. This flagrant disregard is not only costly to repair/replace but it is illegal. Consequences will be severe. Quinton Schools will pursue all legal remedies for the illegal acts, including law enforcement involvement. Please talk to your children about this challenge and report any information to the school.

Patrons of the Quinton School District, Thank you for taking part in one of the most important duties we have as citizens of our great nation. Voting is the bedrock of how our country functions. This is a great teaching moment for us to share with all of our students. Find something you believe in and be passionate about it. Put in the time and effort to research, find facts, compare and then make an informed decision. To everyone who put in so much work on the bond election; I want to say you have my thanks. No matter the outcome we will continue to do our very best for our students. (Yes, we consider them all ours also). Nothing has changed in that regard. Hopefully we will strive to work together to achieve all we can for these young people. I know we all agree they deserve the best we can give them. Todd Wilson Quinton Schools Superintendent

Patrons of Quinton Schools. I will try to explain the ballot language. The Oklahoma State Attorney General's office writes the language that appears on the ballot. We contracted with the Stephen L. Smith company for the bond. They help to file all necessary paperwork and forms for the bond proposal. At that point we call for an election and that is sent to the Ok. State Attorney Generals office. They will then write the information on the ballot. We advertise what projects are to be constructed ( see the construction part of the ballot). Once we advertise what we are proposing a Construction Bond for, the Cafeteria/saferoom and the Library/resource saferoom we are required BY Law to do so. If we do not build what we advertised we would be breaking the law.

Patrons of Quinton Public Schools, I know several questions have been asked about grants and I want to share this public information with you. Impact Aid Construction Grant- This grant has not been awarded since 2019. Additionally, we do not qualify. The very first thing to qualify is that 50% or more of your students must either live on Indian lands or have a parent on active military duty. We do not qualify. "Shovel Ready construction Grant" this was a President Obama era program that ended in 2016. It was up to a maximum of $1,000,000 and I know one local school did qualify for some of this money and remodeled their cafeteria. Again, this program ended in 2016 and does not exist anymore. USDA Grant- we are actually working on an application to see what we could qualify for. Usually the maximum amount is $50,000 but it can go higher IF funding is available. However, this is a matching grant. Our share is 45% and is based off of what was reported on the Census. This means if we could get awarded $1,000,000( which is pretty unrealistic) our part would be $450,000 dollars. That is money we would have to come up with and our options would either be a bond or a very expensive and long term lease-purchase. We have written several grants at Quinton Public Schools. Sadly, most grant applications don't get funded because of lack of money. The big playground set at the Elementary was funded mostly by a grant and a donation. The shade coverings at the Elementary that were installed last year? They were funded by a grant written in conjunction with a parent. This year we received a $96,000 grant for Elementary counseling services for the next 3 years. We hope to have that going strong soon but we have some required meetings coming up before we can do so. Our Ag department wrote and received a grant last year for incubators and supplies to hatch quail for local release. Our teachers will often apply for grants to help with classroom needs or projects. I hope this information is helpful.
